Chamber adds more than 200 new members during recording breaking three-day event

The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce announced today the addition of 207 new members following a three-day membership event, more than any other Chamber in the state has ever added during the same period, bringing the total number of organization members to more than 1,000.

"We couldn't be more excited for the addition of these new business and individuals to the body of our membership," said John Seymour, president and CEO of the Chamber. "Our new members include industries, small businesses, non-profits, technology groups and  anufacturing, just to name a few sectors. Adding these members to our already diverse body gives us more voice and influence to advocate for a business friendly environment and increased quality of life for our county and region."

The event was coordinated by a network of 150 Chamber leaders and volunteers who took part took part in training and education about the impact of this Chamber in the community and the region. The training and education, led jointly by Chamber staff and a consulting firm, resulted in the Chamber adding more members in three days than any other Chamber of Commerce in Alabama.

"The strength of this organization has always been, and will continue to be, our members," said Seymour. "This Chamber has a long history of successful community, business and workforce development, and we know growing our membership will engage more people in our areas of work and help businesses large and small feel even more invested in the health of our community.

"More members means more opportunity to make Decatur and Morgan County a better place to live and work. In the end, that is the goal of this Chamber," he said.
