The Plan

The City of Decatur, Morgan County Commission and the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce have long been proactive in building a stronger community. In 2009, Market Street Services, Inc., a community and economic development consulting firm based in Atlanta, was retained to facilitate a strategic process to develop a community action plan that would provide a blueprint for public and private sector leadership to address the challenges and fully leverage the opportunities in the community.

The plan – One Vision, One Voice, One Morgan County – developed six areas of focus: a balanced economy; diversity and new people; available and attainable quality education; keeping the area's best and brightest; dynamic, visionary and community-wide leadership; and access to quality healthcare.

Four years into the plan, One Morgan County continues to impact the community and the region.
