Chamber announces staff addition

The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce announced today the addition of Louise Moores Brown as director of community development effective Sept. 8.

Brown will be responsible for the Chamber's leadership development series, which includes the
Excellence, Experience and Edge programs. She will also manage the Commodore program – the Chamber's ambassador group who act as a liaison between the Chamber and its members.

"During our search, the thing that set Louise apart is her involvement in the community with a wide range of non-profit organizations. In each case, she held leadership positions which indicate her willingness to take responsibility and give back to her community," said John Seymour, president and CEO of the Chamber. "Her involvement with parent-teacher organizations from elementary through high school through her family will be vital in our youth leadership programing. She has a tremendous personality, strong communication skills and can build consensus. We are excited to have her join us."

Most recently, Brown served as registrar with the Morgan County Board of Registrars in Decatur. She is a former small business owner, as well as an engaged volunteer in the community. She also has past involvement with the Carnegie Visual Arts Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Morgan County, Hospice of the Valley, American Heart Association, the Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts, and Parents and Children Together (PACT). She co-chaired the 2012 Decatur Morgan Hospital Gala.

A graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., with a degree in English and a minor in political science, Brown lives in Decatur with her family.
