The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce today announced that nominations for the Chamber's Miss Athelyne C. Banks Citizen of the Year award are open, welcoming submissions that reflect the dedication, service and faithfulness to Decatur that were modeled by one of the city's most revered leaders.

Due to the threat of winter weather, the Chamber's annual State of Morgan County address – featuring Morgan County Commission Chair Ray Long – is rescheduled for Tuesday, March 3, at 7:30 a.m.

The annual event provides the Morgan County Commission Chairman the opportunity to highlight the county's progress in economic development, financial sustainability and present an "annual report" to citizens regarding the accomplishments of the past 12 months.

The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce announced today the plans to travel to Montgomery, Ala., and our nation's capital for their annual public policy trips to discuss the state of business with local representatives.

The Chamber's inaugural State of Healthcare address will focus on the financial status of our local hospitals, how the Affordable Care Act legislation impacts the way healthcare is being delivered to residents of Morgan County, the developing relationship between Decatur Morgan Hospital and the Huntsville Hospital System and the changing economics of healthcare.
