USA TODAY cited the Decatur City School System after its students achieved the top 10 percent in test scores

Decatur City Schools is the only school system north of Birmingham to participate in the internationally recognized I.B. Diploma Programme, and it is available in both  High Schools.

The Decatur City Schools System has earned the Alabama Attorney General's Safe Schools Award more than any other school system in the state of Alabama.
